Vacuum bags are one of the most commonly used packages in vacuum packaging. Vacuum bags are available in multiple sizes, thicknesses, and types to accommodate a variety of products. The most common vacuum bag is a 3 Mil vacuum bag. Depending on the vacuum sealer being used, a channeled vacuum bag may be required for sealing. See below for descriptions of each type of vacuum bag.
Normal vacuum bags are smooth vacuum bags available in multiple thicknesses and sizes. The most common thickness of vacuum bags is a 3 mil thickness. The 3 mil thickness is ideal for most products unless the product has sharp edges or corners such as bones in meat.
Channeled Vacuum Bags
Channeled vacuum bags or embossed vacuum bags are another common bag used in vacuum packaging. Many home use vacuum sealers require a channeled vacuum bag for packaging. The surfaces of the bags are textured. The channeled vacuum bags allow air to escape from the bag easier. Embossed bags are also said to have a higher than usual oxygen barrier. Channeled bags are available in a 3 mil thickness with multiple sizes to choose from.
Vacuum Zipper Bags
These are smooth vacuum bags with a zipper for easy opening. The zipper is on one end of the vacuum bag and the other end of the bag is open to insert products and create a seal. A common use for vacuum zipper bags is bacon packaging among other things. Once the zipper bag is opened by the customer, it can be easily reclosed.
Notched Vacuum Bags
Notched vacuum bags are smooth vacuum bags with an easy to open tear notch. Our notched vacuum bags are available in a standard 3 mil thickness. Sizes of notched vacuum bags range from 4 to 12 inch widths.
