Gauge Thickness Conversion Chart
We sell a variety of products that use multiple units of measurement to describe the thickness of the material. Many of our true performance stretch film products use gauge as a unit of measurement for thickness. Some of the new hybrid stretch films use microns as a unit of measurement for thickness. All of our shrink wrap products use gauge for measuring thickness. Most poly products use mil as a unit of measurement for thickness.
We understand the variety of measurement conversions can be confusing for anyone not familiar with a certain type of measurement. We have created a conversion chart for our customers and readers to use to be sure they are finding the proper thickness of film. Below for reference we have a couple common household items many people are familiar with.
Home Use Saran Wrap - Typically 35-40 ga. Thickness
Home Use Ziplock Bags - Typically 1.5-2 Mil Thickness
Heavy Duty Trash Bags - Typically 2-3 Mil Thickness
